An Upper Pottsgrove Township police officer fatally shot Glenwood Earl Pysher IV, a 22-year-old, during a response to a reported break-in at a Snyder Road residence. The incident, occurring on Aug. 23, has drawn attention as Pysher’s mother claims he mistakenly entered the wrong yard.
Pysher was identified by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office following the officer-involved shooting. Prosecutors state he was shot after a 911 call reported a potential break-in at approximately 12:29 a.m.
Upon arrival, police encountered Pysher behind the house. The situation evolved rapidly, resulting in officers shooting and killing Pysher. His mother, Erin Pysher, contends her son thought he was at a friend’s residence and was on the phone with them shortly before being shot.
“It’s a small little error that cost him his life. It should’ve never happened,” she stated. “The cops should not have resorted to such force. He was unarmed and posed no threat. It escalated too quickly.”
Pysher’s background includes playing baseball for Northampton County Community College before transferring to St. Elizabeth College in New Jersey for his senior year, where he planned to continue playing baseball and study history.
“He recently turned 22. He had plans to start college and play baseball. His life was unjustly cut short,” his mother expressed.
The district attorney’s office is still investigating the incident, promising updates upon completion.
