1 week ago 0

Widespread Recall of Pasta

Pasta available at Walmart locations across the United States is under recall because of potential listeria contamination. This update comes from a notice by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Product Details

Gias Foods, based in New York, is recalling two lots of bettergoods brand Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine. These are distributed nationally at Walmart Inc. stores. The product comes in frozen, 22-ounce packages, with a UPC number of 194346442706. Affected packages have lot numbers L6079C or L6080C and expiration dates of September 19, 2027, or September 20, 2027.

Initiation of the Recall

On September 15, the recall began following findings from a routine sampling program by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The tests indicated possible bacteria presence in the product.

Health Concerns

Though no illnesses have been reported, consumers should be cautious. Symptoms of listeriosis, as noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), typically appear within two weeks of consuming contaminated food. Symptoms can include fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, seizures, and flu-like indications such as muscle aches and fatigue.

Company’s Response

Gias Foods has ceased distributing these pasta meals while an investigation is ongoing. Customers who purchased the affected products should return them to the store of purchase for a full refund. For further inquiries, consumers can reach the company at [email protected].
