A young man from New Jersey is facing severe charges following the deaths of two teenage girls. Prosecutors claim that 18-year-old Vincent Battiloro deliberately struck Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas, both 17, while they were riding electric bikes in Cranford, New Jersey. This tragic incident occurred on September 29, 2025. Battiloro now faces adult charges for murder, as announced on June 26.
Remarkably, only a day after the alleged crime, Battiloro appeared on a YouTube video game livestream. During the session, he mentioned the substantial “engagement” he received from comments discussing the incident. “The more you guys engage in the chat, the more you give me engagement, and I get paid for YouTube,” he stated, showing little regard for the gravity of the situation.
“There has been a lot of misinformation going on over the internet. But I will say this. I wish my sincerest condolences to those two girls lost in that tragic accident,” Battiloro said during the stream. He indicated that more details would be shared when he is authorized to speak fully on the matter.
Police investigations revealed that Battiloro’s own dash camera documented him getting into a Jeep Compass and heading toward Burnside Avenue in Cranford, near a victim’s home. The footage allegedly shows him making a U-turn and accelerating towards the girls, striking them at considerable speed. After the collision, Battiloro reportedly fled the scene on foot.
Initially, Battiloro’s identity was protected due to his age. However, the case moved to adult court, leading to charges of first-degree murder. Brent Bramnick, representing Niotis’s family, expressed gratitude for the decision to try Battiloro as an adult. “The decision to try the defendant as an adult is a welcomed sliver of justice,” said Bramnick, extending thanks to the Prosecutor’s Office and the community for keeping Maria and Isabella’s memories alive.
Additional troubling details emerged concerning Battiloro’s actions in September 2025. Bramnick revealed that Battiloro allegedly harassed the Niotis family by swatting their home twice. He highlighted the family’s desire for clarity regarding police investigations at that time, questioning the steps taken by authorities after the family’s reports.
