New Orleans Saints Eye Breakthrough Season with Emerging Talent

3 weeks ago 0

The New Orleans Saints have faced challenges in recent years, but hopes are high for a strong performance in 2026. Amid the changes and adjustments, the spotlight turns to their emerging talent. Among these talents is a breakout star who could play a key role in revitalizing the team.

According to Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports, several under-the-radar players are poised to become standouts this year. Pereles emphasizes that the offseason offers players the chance to shift from obscurity to prominence, particularly for those who are less known to casual fans.

Zachary Pereles: “The offseason and preseason provide opportunities for individuals to make their jumps from relative unknowns to standouts.”

For the Saints, left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. garners attention as a standout player. Banks impressed during the 2025 season, securing his role at left tackle as a rookie. His performance was notable not only for his consistency but also for surpassing expectations. As the No. 9 overall pick, Banks earned the No. 27 tackle ranking according to Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades. This positioned him above veterans like Dion Dawkins and Ronnie Stanley, as well as ahead of Will Campbell, picked five spots before him in the draft.

The impact of a rookie making immediate contributions isn’t common, and Banks demonstrated significant growth throughout the season. With Tyler Shough stepping in as quarterback, Banks has the potential to enhance the team’s dynamics. Shough has plenty to prove and Banks’s support is crucial in assisting his success in 2026.
