North Carolina GOP Nominates Jennifer Balkcom for 11th Congressional District

North Carolina state representative Jennifer Balkcom has been chosen as the Republican nominee for the state’s 11th Congressional District. This decision follows Rep. Chuck Edwards’ recent choice to end his re-election efforts. The 11th Congressional District Executive Committee made the selection on Monday.

Support for Balkcom is notable, with endorsements from U.S. Senator Ted Budd and U.S. Representative Greg Murphy, both members of the Republican Party from North Carolina.

I’m blessed to receive the Republican nomination for the 11th Congressional District. Like many Americans, the Democrat Party left me behind when they abandoned their values and embraced extremism. We’re seeing that extremism play out across the country, as their party nominates radical socialists who want to raise taxes, open our borders, and do away with our way of life. We must prevent that radical agenda from reaching our government, and that starts right here in the Eleventh District.

Balkcom expressed her gratitude upon receiving the nomination. Her statement emphasizes opposition to the Democratic Party’s policies, which she describes as extreme. She argues that they threaten the nation’s principles. Balkcom stresses the importance of preventing such policies from influencing the government.

Balkcom will compete against Democratic candidate Jamie Ager in the upcoming general election.

The North Carolina Republican Party appreciates Balkcom’s selection. Zach Almond, the party’s executive director, praised Balkcom for her regional values, expertise in agriculture, banking, and finance. He believes she will be a significant asset for Western North Carolinians in Congress.

Previously, Chuck Edwards secured a decisive victory in the GOP primary for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District. However, he recently announced he would not seek re-election, stating personal reflection led to his decision. In his statement, Edwards expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and mentioned he will complete his current term. He also thanked his supporters.

This announcement follows a report by the House Committee on Ethics, which recommended a censure against Edwards. The committee cited evidence of unprofessional conduct towards two young female staffers. Although Edwards denied any misconduct, the report described behavior that could be interpreted as inappropriate, such as offering gifts, compliments on appearance, and invitations to personal events.
