Odell Beckham Jr. Nears NFL Return with Possible Reunion with Giants

4 weeks ago 0

Odell Beckham Jr. may soon make his return to the NFL. Despite not playing since the 2024 season, the former All-Pro wide receiver is set to work out with the New York Giants on Monday, according to reports by Jordan Schultz. This surprising news raises the potential for Beckham Jr. to reunite with the team.

The Giants experienced a setback when wide receiver Gunner Olszewski suffered a torn Achilles over the weekend. This incident likely prompted the team to reach out to Beckham Jr., who spent his first five professional seasons with them. He was initially picked as the 12th overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Beckham Jr. last appeared in an NFL game on December 8, 2024, playing for the Miami Dolphins. They released him five days after this appearance. If he joins the Giants for Week 1 this season, it will mark 644 days since his last game.

During his brief period with the Dolphins, Beckham Jr. managed only nine receptions for 55 yards over nine games. Over his 10-year career, he has compiled 575 receptions, 7,987 receiving yards, and 59 touchdowns. Most of his success occurred during his time with the Giants, where he amassed 390 receptions, 5,476 yards, and 44 touchdowns in 59 games.

If the Giants sign Beckham Jr., he would join a wide receiver group featuring Malachi Fields, their 2026 third-round pick, Malik Nabers, their 2024 first-round pick, and recent free-agent signee Darnell Mooney. Last season, the Giants ranked 21st in the NFL for passing yards per game, averaging 204.4. Their leading receiver, Wandale Robinson, has since left to join the Tennessee Titans.
