Pat Sajak, the well-known former host of “Wheel of Fortune,” made a rare public appearance in Los Angeles. At 79, he attended the ceremony celebrating Air Supply’s Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock receiving their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Sajak appeared in a gray suit paired with a pink shirt. He took photos and made a speech honoring the musicians. With humor, he acknowledged his own long career on “Wheel of Fortune,” stating he knows a thing or two about longevity. Sajak playfully addressed the group, saying, “I understand the challenge of trying not to wear out your welcome,” referring to Air Supply’s half-century of entertaining fans worldwide.
He joked about initially planning on a large Air Supply logo tattoo on his chest but reconsidered, humorously mentioning how it might detract from his fictional nipple ring. This humorous interaction highlighted his comic skills, sharpened over 41 years hosting “Wheel of Fortune” and “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.” Sajak retired in 2024, passing his hosting duties to Ryan Seacrest.
Post-retirement, Sajak starred in the play “Prescription: Murder” at The Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu from July 31 to August 10, 2025. In June, he shared an update from Hawaii with fans, humorously claiming, “I moved here to Montana, and everything is going just great,” and joking about attending to cattle.
Sajak’s reflections on his career include nearly passing on the opportunity to host “Wheel of Fortune.” He took over from Chuck Woolery in 1981, hosting both daytime and nighttime versions until 1989 and 1983, respectively. He humorously recalled local TV work as a constant audition, where producers watched TV along with everyone else.
