Patrick Mahomes Sr. is currently on probation after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated. Despite this, he has filed a motion to attend his son Patrick Mahomes’ games this season. According to a report from FOX10, the motion was filed on Friday in the 7th District Court in Tyler, Texas.

Mahomes Sr. has requested permission to travel out of state for seven of his son’s games. These games are scheduled to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cincinnati, Ohio. In the motion, he acknowledges the required conditions to leave the state, such as urinalysis testing before and after travel and notifying a supervising officer each time he departs.

In 2024, Mahomes Sr. pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and received a five-year probation sentence. However, in February 2026, he was arrested for violating his probation terms by consuming alcohol. This incident extended his probation by two years.

The filed motion highlights that Mahomes Sr. has completed 16 weeks of outpatient treatment and 160 hours of community service. He has complied with all current probation conditions and is monitored by an ankle monitor, which can be confirmed by a Smith County community supervision officer.

OutKick contacted Mahomes Sr.’s attorney and his representatives for comments, but no responses were received immediately.

The Kansas City Chiefs will open their season against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football in Week 1. Patrick Mahomes appears likely to start, as he has been working with the first team throughout training camp, despite undergoing knee surgery in December.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid commented on Mahomes’ dedication, saying, “He’s going to keep practicing just like he’s been doing. These are more like practice here, a lot of one-versus-one play these next couple of days. That’s a good thing.”
