Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton remains hospitalized in Florida following a self-harm incident earlier this week. His family reports “significant blood loss” and surgery required, with ongoing treatment from doctors. Currently, his condition is described as “serious but stable.” However, a lengthy recovery is anticipated.
Family Issues Health Update
On Hilton’s official website, PerezHilton.com, his family addressed “false and inaccurate reports” online regarding his condition and hospitalization circumstances. They emphasized only statements from the website should be deemed official.
Hilton is hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act, permitting temporary detention for mental health crises. His communication is limited to immediate family, medical staff, and direct care providers. He has not engaged with media or issued public statements since his hospitalization.
Injuries and Required Surgery
The family’s statement provided insight into Hilton’s injuries: “Perez’s condition remains serious but stable. He experienced significant blood loss and sustained injuries necessitating surgery soon.” They warned of extended treatment and rehabilitation timelines ahead.
Family members expressed gratitude for Hilton’s recent time with his mother and sister during his recovery journey.
Incident Details
The event that unfolded on August 4 attracted significant online attention. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an individual livestreaming self-harm acts on social media from a Miami residence. The individual, later identified as Hilton (legal name Mario Lavandeira), was safely recovered and hospitalized.
TikTok reported its systems flagged the livestream within minutes of initiation, escalating it to human moderators for review. The platform removed the livestream after approximately 15 minutes, and quickly shut down related livestreams, banning the account involved.
Family’s Privacy Request
Alongside the health update, Hilton’s family strongly appealed for privacy to concentrate on his treatment and recovery. They requested reporters and the public to avoid gathering outside the family’s home, following relatives, or photographing Hilton’s children. The family confirms the children’s safety and care by immediate family members.
“There is absolutely no reason for members of the media or the public to remain outside the family’s home,” the statement read.
Currently, the family has not disclosed a hospital release timeline for Hilton. However, surgery is anticipated shortly, with long-term treatment and recovery expected.
