Pete Crow-Armstrong and Munetaka Murakami Shine at MLB All-Star Events

Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong currently leads MLB position players with a 6.0 fWAR, making him a formidable challenger for the award.

Crow-Armstrong, who performed well in the All-Star Game, acknowledges Ohtani’s unmatched talent. “I would love to dethrone him, but I don’t know how you do it unless I go to whatever pitching labs in the offseason,” he said. His standout defensive abilities and quality at-bats have established him as a leading MLB player.

Former teammate Cody Bellinger praises Crow-Armstrong, stating, “He’s seriously the best defender in the game. He gets to some balls that none of us even get to.” Crow-Armstrong’s unique skill set has elevated him in the league, impressing players like Phillies star Bryce Harper.

Meanwhile, Chicago White Sox’s Munetaka Murakami made his mark during the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game. Murakami, who joined Ohtani as one of the only Japanese-born players in the Derby, launched nine home runs, with the farthest traveling 466 feet. “I really enjoyed it,” said Murakami, who looks forward to proving himself in the league.

During the All-Star Game, Murakami faced Padres’ closer Mason Miller, who struck him out with a powerful fastball. Despite the challenge, Murakami remains optimistic about his future with the White Sox, noting, “We’re a winning squad so we’re just going to keep continuing that.” He is interested in staying with the team long-term, although a discount deal is not a priority for now.

White Sox’s Miguel Vargas displayed impressive power during the All-Star Game by hitting a 433-foot home run. This achievement marked his first All-Star Game extra-base hit and continued the Sox’s legacy of strong performances. “If anybody’s going to hit a homer in the All-Star game, it’s going to be him,” said teammate Tristan Peters.

Vargas was one of seven Cuban-born players participating, setting a new record. “Sharing the moment with them is unbelievable,” Vargas expressed, emphasizing the significance of such opportunities for Cuban players.
