Lindsay Clancy Case: Plea Deal Considered

Following a mistrial, discussions have emerged regarding a potential plea deal in the Lindsay Clancy murder case. Criminal defense attorney Donna Rotunno shared insights on ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’, considering whether the case might be resolved through a plea bargain rather than a second trial.

Mistrial Declared

Attorney Kevin Reddington expressed openness to a plea deal after the mistrial was declared by Judge William Sullivan. The jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict, reportedly dividing 11-1. Reddington noted the holdout juror had expressed doubt but failed to apply judicial instructions on reasonable doubt.

Clancy Facing Serious Charges

Lindsay Clancy, 36, faces three counts of first-degree murder over the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, who were found strangled in January 2023 at their home.

Potential Negotiations

In a ‘Good Morning America’ interview, Reddington expressed hopes for negotiations with Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz. Reddington is willing to explore options, hoping Cruz might reconsider post-trial evidence with the aim of reaching a mutually acceptable resolution.

Prosecutors’ Stance

Reddington previously communicated prosecutors’ lack of openness toward plea deals, emphasizing Cruz’s intent on pursuing severe penalties.

Trump Pardon Request

Reddington appealed for a pardon from former President Donald Trump. He recognized, however, Trump’s lack of authority in Clancy’s state court case.

Reddington Comments on Jury

Following the trial, Reddington moderated earlier criticism of the holdout juror, supporting the juror’s right to maintain their position while expressing frustration toward their application of the law.

Patrick Clancy Responds

Patrick Clancy, represented by attorney Howard Cooper, addressed defamation aimed at him and his family. Cooper warned potential legal actions against those involved in spreading false information regarding connections to the children’s deaths.

Future of the Case

While District Attorney Cruz has yet to outline further actions post-mistrial, a status hearing has been set for September 29.
