3 weeks ago 0

On Thursday morning, all northbound lanes of the 101 freeway heading into downtown Los Angeles were closed due to police activity in Boyle Heights. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) implemented the closure just north of 4th Street shortly before 9 a.m., creating significant traffic congestion.

Drivers were redirected off the freeway at 4th Street as the incident was investigated. A CHP log indicated that as part of the ongoing inquiry, alternate routes were necessary. Reportedly, there was an officer-involved shooting incident on the 101 freeway, resulting in one person being hospitalized.

Despite the situation, CHP officials have not released further details about the incident or the SigAlert. Requests for comment from the department have not yet been answered. Video footage provided by KTLA revealed the presence of crime scene tape and multiple patrol vehicles on the freeway, with traffic extending for miles.

Police arrived on the scene around 7:30 a.m., and a SigAlert announcing the closure of all northbound lanes was issued at 8:55 a.m., according to CHP records.
