Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Return to the UK Sparks Humor and Friction

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were greeted with satire as they set foot back in the UK. “Saturday Night Live UK” featured them prominently in a sketch targeting their familial ties, Netflix contract, and lifestyle pursuits.

The sketch began with actors portraying King Charles III and Queen Camilla enjoying a tranquil stay at Balmoral. Their peace disrupted when impersonations of Harry and Meghan burst in, prompting laughter.

“Oh, Camilla, nothing like a quiet Saturday in Balmoral. Clean Scottish air, dirty Scottish people … bliss,” joked the King, played by Larry Dean. Camilla, played by Emma Sidi, remarked on their carefree weekends.

“Daddy, I’m home,” announced “Harry,” portrayed by Jack Shep, as he and “Meghan” (Ayoade Bamgboye) entered with playful banter.

Mocking Meghan’s Netflix show, the skit had her gifting an ice tray to the Queen, claiming culinary prowess despite hiring top chefs, according to “Harry.” The satirical narrative continued, poking fun at financial concerns, hinting they depleted their Netflix earnings.

Their intrigue continues as Buckingham Palace remains firm on their non-royal duties. A letter from King Charles III, reported by Fox News, emphasized no restoration of their former roles, retaining statuses unchanged since their 2020 withdrawal.

“In January 2020, the Duke and Duchess stepped down from representative duties,” stated the letter, highlighting their non-affiliation with official duties, while acknowledging their endeavors in private and charitable capacities.

The Sussexes, along with their children Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, settled in a nonroyal residence outside London. The letter underscored that a new address doesn’t affect their royal status, maintaining their standing as private individuals.

The announcement came from the Lord Chamberlain, illustrating their continued disassociation from royal obligations while pursuing personal and commercial interests.
