Miles Sanders, a former Pro Bowl running back, faced arrest in June for DUI charges in Churchill Borough, Pennsylvania, according to court records. Sanders, who concluded his last season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, has pleaded guilty to offenses related to driving an unregistered vehicle and illegal parking in areas marked as restricted. A preliminary hearing is set for September 23, addressing additional charges of careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
The arrest followed an incident where police discovered Sanders slumped and unresponsive in the driver’s seat of his Lexus, situated in the middle of William Penn Highway. Officers on the scene noted his inability to answer questions due to his state. CBS News reports indicate that Sanders appeared lethargic and was intermittently conscious. He admitted to consuming alcohol earlier, with officers detecting alcohol on his breath and noticing his glossy eyes. Additionally, marijuana was present in the vehicle, and a portable breath test conducted by police returned positive for alcohol.
Sanders hails from Pittsburgh and was a notable player at Penn State during his college career. The Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Sanders spent his initial four seasons with the Eagles before securing a four-year, $25 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. Unfortunately, his stint with the Panthers was cut short by injuries and underperformance. Afterward, he signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys but only participated in four games due to knee and ankle injuries that ended his season.
Currently a free agent, Sanders has been out of play since his last appearance on the field. Over his 88-game career, he accumulated 4,462 rushing yards and accounted for 24 touchdowns, alongside 183 receptions totaling 1,274 yards and four touchdowns. His peak season occurred in 2022 when he achieved his Pro Bowl selection, rushing for 1,269 yards and securing 11 touchdowns.
