Pro Wrestling Legend Tommy Dreamer Prepares for ACW Return

Pro wrestling icon Tommy Dreamer alerted fans about what to expect when he enters the Awesome Championship Wrestling (ACW) ring against Josh Shernoff in a lumberjack match. This event includes the tag teams The Now and Sent 2 Slaughter.

The competitors have a long history. Shernoff previously pinned Dreamer in a six-man tag match at the Poughkeepsie Rumble in January. After The Now and Sent 2 Slaughter faced off in a steel cage match at Reckoning in May, Shernoff challenged Dreamer to a match at ACW Indypendence Day, taking place this Saturday.

Dreamer warned that the fans attending the event might witness violence beyond what they usually see. In an interview with Fox News Digital, he mentioned, “People try to make a name for themselves in this industry.” Dreamer acknowledged Shernoff’s surprise ability in the ring, noting, “I didn’t take him too seriously, and it’s embarrassing to lose sudden control of a match.”

Dreamer expressed frustration over Shernoff’s ongoing provocations during his absence at recent ACW shows. He stated, “I’m going to get him and do what made me famous, particularly in that building. I apologize to those who might find this type of old school wrestling extreme.”

Shawn Donovan and Danny Maff attacked Vik Dalishus in a steel cage at Reckoning, with Hale Collins handcuffed outside. Dalishus’ wife intervened, but Dalishus ended up hospitalized.

Dreamer reflected on the implications of wrestling injuries, “I wasn’t at that show, and I know they’ve done awful things to Vic Dalishus and Hale Collins.” He emphasized the personal toll, mentioning Vic’s public injury witnessed by his wife and children. “Back in the day, we didn’t think of others’ ramifications. But now, it’s a different industry, and there will be consequences on Saturday,” Dreamer added.

The rivalry intensifies with Saturday’s anticipated match. Dreamer is enthusiastic about performing at the MJN Center again, a venue with significant history for him. “I’ve wrestled for 37 years, and it’s an honor each time.” He reminisced about sharing the space with legends like Cowboy Bob Orton and Randy Orton. Dreamer also remembered breaking his neck and back there in an ECW event.

After the impact of COVID, Dreamer praised the return of pro wrestling to the area. ACW, driven by local passion, has revitalized wrestling in the Mid-Hudson region. “It’s a great entertainment option, priced affordably, and perfect for wrestling fans,” he concluded.
