In Newark, New Jersey, a protest took place outside the Delaney Hall detention facility. Protest organizers established a detailed logistics and support system before demonstrations began. Items such as masks, duct tape, medical supplies, sunscreen, hard hats, goggles, and other protective equipment were set up in containers and on tables at the protest site.
Participants were frequently seen with masks, respirators, and helmets. When questioned by Fox News Digital about the extensive preparations, the group declined to answer. A video showed an individual attempting to seize the device Fox News Digital was using for recording.

The demonstration attracted around 200 anti-ICE activists, many connected with far-left and socialist groups. Supporters of ICE were also present, including some associated with the far-right Proud Boys group. Delaney Hall has been the focal point since detainees released a letter accusing the facility of mistreatment, including lack of medical care and food insufficiency.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) countered these accusations, providing menus as evidence of detainees receiving meals like chicken fajitas and Salisbury steak. Following recent conflicts where federal agents were attacked, Democratic Governor Mikie Sherrill directed the New Jersey State Police to oversee security, citing the need to guard demonstrators from an “ICE surge.”

State authorities attributed much of the disturbance to external agitators. State Attorney General Jennifer Davenport reported that five out of six individuals arrested by police were from outside New Jersey.
The area around the detention center was heavily secured with orange barricades and metal fencing by Saturday morning.
