The Unexpected Journey of Magnolia
In a separate incident, a Maryland man allegedly stole a three-month-old kitten named Magnolia from a pet store. He later brought her into a nearby bank before attempting a robbery. Prince George’s County police later found Magnolia unharmed, arresting the suspect in the process.
Magnolia, described by Beltsville Community Cats as a “purr machine,” is available for adoption. Security footage shows a man grabbing the black-and-white kitten from Pet Supplies Plus on Baltimore Avenue, then proceeding to the PNC Bank next door.
Stephanie Stullich, from Beltsville Community Cats, received a distressing call from pet store employees reporting the kitten had been taken. She noted a large police presence at the bank, realizing the incident extended beyond a simple cat theft.
Details of the Robbery Attempt
According to Stullich, police reported that the suspect walked into the bank with Magnolia and asked an employee to hold her. He then presented a note demanding cash. Authorities quickly detained the man at the scene.
The store manager, Aaron Kurkowski, mentioned the suspect had frequented the store, often heading straight for Magnolia. After her recovery, Beltsville Community Cats noted on Facebook that Magnolia bonded with the bank manager during the chaos.
The robbery did not succeed, and the suspect was apprehended. Magnolia, who remains unscathed, is now up for adoption. She is characterized as affectionate, playful, and enjoys following her human companions. The rescue recommends that she is adopted alongside another young, energetic cat to match her social nature.
For those interested, Beltsville Community Cats seeks a loving home for Magnolia, emphasizing a preference for a law-abiding adopter with ample love to share.
