Red Sox Achieve Record-Breaking 15-Game Winning Streak

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have equaled a historic performance last achieved in 1946, when Ted Williams was prominent in an MVP season. In their 126th season, they matched that 80-year-old streak by winning 15 consecutive games, starting with their victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy acknowledged the importance of this achievement. “It’s cool that they’ve accomplished something great,” he said. The team celebrated their success with the traditional post-victory song “Dirty Water” and camaraderie in the clubhouse.

Boston had a rocky start this season, firing manager Alex Cora after a disappointing 10-17 record. By July 1, they were 37-48 and last in the AL East. Tracy became the first manager since the 19th century to lead a team to 15 consecutive wins without beginning the season in charge, according to MLB.

In the game against the Orioles, Boston took charge early with a 4-0 lead. Pitcher Jake Bennett allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings, maintaining their advantage. Caleb Durbin, who previously hit a decisive homer, was mindful of the countdown to victory. After the game’s end, Jarren Duran appreciated the cheering crowd alongside fellow outfielders.

“When I get to go see (them), I take a look around and I get to enjoy that moment, it’s always fun,” Duran expressed.

Durbin shared his thoughts on the achievement’s significance, highlighting the franchise’s long history: “It feels great. One win closer to 16 to break it.”

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz, who grew up near Boston, also extended his admiration, stating, “A 15-game heater is really impressive—it’s tough to win one game in the big leagues.”

Boston’s winning streak continues to captivate both players and fans alike, underscoring the enduring legacy of the Red Sox franchise.
