Police discovered the remains of two individuals in an Arizona backyard on Thursday. This development occurred during the search for a missing father and mother, while their son is believed to have left the country.
Officer Daniel Benavidez, spokesperson for Avondale police, stated that the son, Matthew Flores, 27, was initially included in the missing persons report filed by worried family members on Tuesday. During a welfare check at a residence in Litchfield Park, evidence suggested foul play.
Benavidez explained, “A large amount of blood was identified, along with attempts to conceal it, indicating foul play.” The discovery prompted further investigation. The human remains had not been identified by Thursday afternoon. Assisting in the recovery were members of the Phoenix police homicide unit.
Family members contacted police on Tuesday afternoon, expecting to find the mother, father, and their adult son at the residence where the bodies were later found. The names of the parents were not released at the family’s request.
Benavidez mentioned that the bodies were in a state of decomposition. No specifics were given on how long the bodies had been in the backyard.
Flores is considered a suspect in this case. Police are actively searching for him and have leads. They urge anyone with information about Flores or his whereabouts to reach out to the department.
The exact destination of Flores is unknown. Benavidez commented, “All I can say is that he fled the country.”
