Authorities in Arizona have discovered the remains of two individuals in the backyard of a home belonging to a missing couple. Their adult son is now a suspect after fleeing the country, according to the police.
The Avondale Police Department responded to a home in Litchfield Park for a welfare check on Tuesday. The check was for a husband, wife, and their son, Matthew Flores, aged 27. Officers found the house empty but uncovered signs of foul play during their investigation.
At a news conference on Thursday, Officer Daniel Benavidez shared that Flores is now a suspect in the ongoing missing persons investigation. Benavidez confirmed Flores fled the country but did not provide any further details on his whereabouts.
“I can’t give you specifics on where to look in the world. All I can say is he fled the country,” stated Benavidez.
The identities of the discovered remains are still unknown, according to Officer Benavidez. When asked about the nature of the evidence at the residence, he said:
“What I can say that we identified is a large amount of blood, and we also identified what we believed is evidence in an attempt to conceal that blood.”
This situation is still unfolding, with further updates expected.
