Rescue Operations Continue Amid Grand Canyon Floods

Rescue teams have found two bodies after flash floods struck the Grand Canyon over the weekend. The National Park Service reports that over a dozen individuals are still missing.

Due to the conditions, lodges and hotels within the park are currently closed. Predictions indicate that more rain and flooding might occur soon.

Ali Rogin, a correspondent for PBS News Hour, provided this report. Rogin is recognized for her coverage of the Supreme Court and America’s judicial system. She has won various accolades, including a Peabody Award in 2021 for series on the global impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also received two Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association. Her contributions have led to Emmy nominations, notably for reporting on the fall of ISIS in 2020 and the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017.
