Rural Americans express growing dissatisfaction with current political decisions, particularly those related to trade and agriculture. Many are contemplating a response at the polls in November.
Barry McCoy, who owns the Montana Livestock Auction in Ramsay, Montana, feels disappointment over the allowance of increased beef imports in the U.S. under President Donald Trump’s administration. He has observed cattle prices decline over the last two months, attributing this to the recent uncertain tariff policies. The situation worsened after Trump’s decision in August to lift tariffs on 660 million pounds of foreign beef, leading to lower prices for these imports in U.S. grocery stores. This imported beef, often criticized as ‘mystery meat,’ has led to increased frustration among local producers.
