Samsung has announced its 2026 lineup for mobile devices and wearables, signaling a future where fashion meets technology. The London Galaxy Unpacked event, held on July 20th, showcased three new hinge-based phones, two smartwatches, and two pairs of smart glasses to be released later this year.
Samsung describes the lineup as ‘its most complete yet,’ aiming to broaden the appeal of foldable devices. Built on the foundation of seven generations of innovations and insights, the new Galaxy Z series offers more choices with three unique experiences tailored to different user needs.
New Phones: Galaxy Z Series
The new phones, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8, provide an array of options. The Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra open sideways to larger landscape screens. In contrast, the Z Flip8 unfolds vertically, offering a spacious portrait view. Key features highlighted this year include ‘thinner, brighter, and durable’ designs.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
Spending hands-on time with the devices, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra stands out. It’s slimmer yet robust, thanks to the new Flex Titanium material. This material presents a flatter, more uniform surface, enhancing its ability to endure repeated folding. While a subtle crease remains visible in some lighting, the device features a 200 MP camera and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom. Improvements such as Nightography7 and 8K resolution editing add to its appeal.
Galaxy Z Flip8
Comparing the Flip8 with the previous Flip7 model, the Flip8 impresses with its lighter and thinner design. The redesigned FlexWindow Home expands the cover screen’s functionality, allowing users to manage apps like booking taxis and accessing health hubs without opening the phone. This upgrade marks a significant selling point.
New Smartwatches: Galaxy Watch Series
Galaxy Watch Ultra2
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 shows notable improvements over its predecessor. It features a 35% better battery for multi-day use, a larger and brighter display, and a 12% thinner casing. As Samsung stated, these wearables usher in ‘a new era of effortless health’ by providing in-depth health insights through AI-driven technology. Priced at $699.99, it targets pro athletes with advanced features like hydration monitoring for runners and diving metrics for divers.
Galaxy Watch9
The Galaxy Watch9 offers excellent value for health-conscious users. Its innovations facilitate easy health management. Heart Health Score tracks metrics like BMI, vascular load, activity, and sleep, offering improvement tips. The fitness index evaluates body composition, flexibility, and cardio, while providing a comparative score among users. These features provide unmatched personalized health insights.
Innovative Eyewear Collaboration
Samsung partnered with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to introduce smart glasses in the 2026 lineup. According to Won-Joon Choi, COO of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience Business, intelligent eyewear enhances personalized AI assistance, making interactions more intuitive. The glasses stand out visually, offering a street-ready look, though features are yet to be tested.
Release Dates
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 become available for pre-order in selected markets starting July 22, 2026, with an expected early August release. Pre-orders for Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 begin the same day, with general availability starting August 7, 2026.
