Seattle Seahawks Secure Comeback Victory Against New England Patriots

3 weeks ago 0

The Seattle Seahawks faced a challenging situation in the third quarter with the New England Patriots leading 10-0. Starting quarterback Sam Darnold exited early due to a hip injury, leaving the team in the hands of backup quarterback Drew Lock.

Lock had a slow start, struggling in his first four drives, all ending in punts. However, he managed to turn things around in the Seahawks’ last possession of the third quarter. Lock led a 31-yard drive that resulted in a field goal, putting Seattle on the scoreboard.

The fourth quarter saw Lock’s performance improve significantly. He connected with receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 45-yard touchdown pass. This was followed by another field goal drive, giving the Seahawks a 13-10 lead with 5:50 left in the game. The Patriots’ quarterback, Drake Maye, further hindered his team’s chances by throwing a third interception in the fourth quarter, allowing Seattle to secure the win.

“I know what kind of defense we have,” Drew Lock stated during the NBC broadcast post-game. “If I take care of the football, get it in their hands, don’t turn it over, win the turnover battle, by the end of the game, I’d like to think we’d have a pretty good shot at winning.”

Lock completed the game with 16 out of 22 pass attempts for 187 yards and one touchdown. He also added 13 rushing yards and managed to keep turnovers at zero, a crucial factor for the Seahawks’ success with a backup quarterback.

Head coach Mike Macdonald informed reporters that initial tests ruled out a fracture for Darnold, suggesting a hopeful outlook for his quick return. However, additional tests are still pending.
