Authorities in Lansing, Illinois issued a shelter-in-place directive on Thursday during a search for a suspect involved in a reported shooting. The incident took place in a Chicago suburb.
Lansing police advised residents near the 2700 block of 170th Street to stay indoors as officers looked for the suspect. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing around 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black do-rag, black hoodie, and a white surgical mask. He was reportedly heading south from 170th Street.

According to dispatch audio reviewed by Fox News Digital, authorities were responding to reports of an active shooter at a chemical plant located across the street from the Lansing Police Department. In the audio, an individual stated, “a helicopter” was deployed, and efforts were underway to find a K9. It was also mentioned that the suspect allegedly “shot every foreign subject in the business.” The police have not yet confirmed specifics from the dispatch audio regarding the incident’s nature.
