An active shooting in downtown Midland, Texas, resulted in at least one fatality and several injuries. Midland Mayor Lori Blong confirmed this during a press conference on Friday.
Mayor Blong reported a total of 11 victims. Law enforcement has set up a perimeter and is advising residents to stay clear of the area.
The exact location of the shooting remains unclear. The shooter is reportedly contained in a building, though specific details about the individual are not yet available.
The FBI is involved, with agents from the Midland satellite office present, as confirmed by a source from the bureau to Fox News Digital.
The shooting began in southeast Midland and extended across the south, leading to police being dispatched at 8:03 a.m. local time.
Midland Memorial Hospital has received nine of the shooting victims. Among them, four are undergoing surgery while five are in stable condition. The hospital’s main campus was locked down for nearly two hours, and the emergency department continues to be locked down.
