Lauren Bennett, best known for her vocals on the 2011 LMFAO hit “Party Rock Anthem,” passed away at age 37, as announced by her former group G.R.L. on Monday. The group shared their sorrow in an Instagram statement, signed by members Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, and Paula van Oppen.

The cause of Bennett’s death remains unclear. Attempts to contact Bennett’s representative for comments were not immediately successful, according to NBC News on Monday.

Bennett contributed to the success of “Party Rock Anthem,” which topped Billboard’s chart for six weeks in 2011. LMFAO achieved two No. 1 hits, with the other being “Sexy and I Know It.”

The members of G.R.L. expressed their deep sadness: “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.” They further conveyed, “We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”

G.R.L. previously experienced tragedy in 2014 with the death of another member, Simone Battle. The group originally formed in 2011 as a relaunch of the Pussycat Dolls, later taking the name G.R.L., as noted by Rolling Stone. They gained recognition for tracks like “Ugly Heart” and featured on Pitbull’s “Wild Wild Love.”

“Party Rock Anthem” remains one of LMFAO’s most recognized tracks, alongside “Sexy and I Know It,” both reaching No. 1 status.
