South Park Creators Satirize Trump’s Renaming of Lake Ontario

3 weeks ago 0

The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have poked fun at President Donald Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America. This satire extends to Apple Maps and Google Maps for complying with the renaming directive.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Parker and Stone humorously declared that inspired by Apple’s and Google’s actions, they are renaming South Park to South America. They expressed appreciation to their parent company Paramount, referring to it as a Skydance Capitulation.

This joke comes after South Park won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program for its premiere episode of the 27th season. The episode, set in 2025, featured a controversial scene with Trump depicted in bed with Satan, discussing his alleged involvement in covering up the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Not stopping at the lake renaming, the episode also satirized Trump’s settlement with CBS and its parent company, Paramount Global. This dealt with a $1.5 billion agreement to stream the animated series on Paramount+ in 2025.

Fox News Digital sought comments from the White House, Apple, Google, and Paramount on these matters. The executive order for renaming Lake Ontario was signed by Trump last month. The lake, a shared resource between the U.S. and Canada, became a symbol amidst trade negotiations between the two nations.

Trump’s statement claimed the United States plays a crucial role in preserving the Great Lakes, asserting that without its protection, these water bodies would lack the accessibility currently enjoyed.

Following Trump’s order, both Apple Maps and Google Maps labeled the lake as Lake America for U.S. users. Canadian users saw the label Lake Ontario, and for users in other regions, both names were present. This followed a similar move when Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in 2025.

The creators of South Park have a track record of parodying Trump, continuing since his second term started in 2025. They often address current political themes through their animated series.
