Steven Borden made his first appearance in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) at a pay-per-view event on Saturday night. Teaming up with Darby Allin, Borden faced Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher at All Out. The son of wrestling icon Sting, Borden is making a name for himself in the sport. He and Allin aimed to become the top contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championship.
The match showcased significant skills from all participants. Knight and Borden attempted simultaneous coast-to-coast moves from opposite corners. While Knight succeeded, Borden landed awkwardly, hitting the back of his head on the mat. The match was halted, and Knight and Fletcher were declared winners.
AEW referee intervened immediately, and broadcaster Tony Schiavone later confirmed that Borden was conscious and responsive. He was taken to the hospital for further assessment.
At the post-event press conference, AEW owner Tony Khan shared positive news about Borden’s condition. He stated, “Thankfully, Steven Borden is awake and responsive. He underwent a CT scan, and results are good. We hope he can return home to his family soon.”
Injuries in wrestling are common, akin to other contact sports. The aspiration is that Borden will recover swiftly and return to the ring.
Meanwhile, Knight and Fletcher will soon face the Young Bucks. Nick and Matt Jackson claimed the tag team titles in a three-way ladder match against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, as well as Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler.
