Supreme Court’s Anticipated Decisions on Key Trump Policies

1 week ago 0

Over the next two weeks, the Supreme Court will deliver more than a dozen final opinions, including decisions on birthright citizenship, the Federal Reserve, and transgender athletes. These rulings will address significant cases that challenge the Trump administration’s efforts to expand presidential power and reshape the federal bureaucracy.

As the Supreme Court approaches the end of its term, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and justices nominated by President Trump have already joined their Democratic counterparts to nullify the president’s extensive tariffs on imports from major trade partners. This ruling in February drew sharp criticism from President Trump, who branded the opposing justices as “fools and lap dogs.”

Foremost in the pending cases are decisions that might end the guarantee of birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants and the potential dismissal of Lisa D. Cook from the Federal Reserve, an influential independent entity. President Trump personally attended oral arguments in the birthright citizenship case in April, marking a rare appearance for a sitting president. He later expressed discontent on social media, characterizing the justices’ inquiries as “nasty, one-sided questions.”

With the court’s upcoming opinions, crucial aspects of President Trump’s agenda await a final verdict. These rulings will play a pivotal role in shaping his administration’s legacy and could lead to further judicial scrutiny of his policies.
