Sydney Sweeney’s Provocative HBO Scenes Stir Controversy

2 weeks ago 0

Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in HBO’s Euphoria, has faced recent criticism for her ‘freaky’ scenes. The debate was highlighted on Fox Business by contributor Katrina Campins. Additionally, Jessica Simpson’s travel costs on Jesse Watters Primetime have drawn attention, with reports of her flying first class to Hawaii while her children sat in coach.

A recent advertisement featuring Sweeney for the sports trading app Novig has caused a stir among athletes. The ad showcased Sweeney in scantily clad poses with sports equipment strategically placed, evoking reactions from the sports community. Olympic gold medalist Ariarne Titmus, sprinter Amy Hunt, and former gymnast Gracie Kramer have each expressed their discontent.

Sydney appears in the ad saying, “Think you know sports? Prove it. Novig is just sports. So, they wanted a show.” The portrayal drew sharp comments from Titmus, who criticized the ad on Instagram, questioning the continued monetization and sexualization of women’s sports.

Amy Hunt, speaking after her competition in Hungary, stressed that true representation of women in sports is about hard work and dedication. Similarly, Gracie Kramer voiced frustration over the recurring issue of the oversexualization of female athletes.

Responding to the backlash, Sweeney highlighted past ESPN magazine covers featuring notable athletes like Serena Williams and Ronda Rousey, pointing to a broader context of how athletes are sometimes depicted.

Fox News Digital has sought comments from both Sweeney’s team and Novig. Sweeney also faced criticism in the previous year when she was part of American Eagle’s fall clothing campaign.
