A personal conflict between two teachers at a Miami charter boarding school resulted in both individuals being arrested after a meeting escalated to violence. Terrod Tiyan Torrence, 36, and Odiria Biggins, who were once romantically involved and share a child, are at the center of the incident.
According to a Miami-Dade Schools Police arrest affidavit, Biggins reported that Torrence left a handwritten note on her desk days prior, requesting a discussion. She agreed to meet him on July 17 in Classroom 119 at The SEED School of Miami.
The conversation reportedly turned violent quickly. Biggins informed police that Torrence struck her repeatedly in the head and slammed her into a wall, which caused her to lose consciousness.
After regaining consciousness, Biggins allegedly retrieved pepper spray from her vehicle. She then located Torrence elsewhere on campus and sprayed him, as captured by surveillance footage.
Biggins faces charges of discharging a weapon on school property and misdemeanor domestic violence battery. A judge set her bond at $2,000.
Torrence was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence battery. He was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a bond set at $2,000, along with a no-contact order regarding Biggins. His arraignment is pending.
The details surrounding the cause of the argument remain unclear. It is also unknown if students witnessed the altercation.
