Arrest in Connection to Penn State Student Murder
The U.S. Marshals have announced the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect in Colorado linked to the murder of Penn State student Billy Schmidt. Philadelphia police confirmed that both 16-year-olds involved will face charges as adults for the robbery and shooting on June 6.
Authorities are continuing their search for Kaiseem Smith, the second suspect, and have issued a wanted poster to aid in his capture.
Teen Wanted in Another Philadelphia Crime
Khadfi Fleming, 19 years old, is now sought after being implicated in another violent incident in Philadelphia. This followed an encounter where an off-duty police officer exchanged gunfire with suspected car thieves. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a cash reward for information that would lead to Fleming’s location.
According to reports, the incident occurred on a Monday when thieves targeted the officer’s Dodge Charger. The officer pursued the suspects, which led to a gunfire exchange, although no injuries were reported.
The suspects abandoned the officer’s vehicle, which was later found damaged. Another stolen car, a Lexus, was also discovered abandoned.
Fleming Linked to Previous Crimes
The U.S. Marshals Service has listed Khadfi Fleming as a person of interest in the assault on an off-duty police officer. Prior to this, Fleming was already wanted for a robbery connected to Billy Schmidt’s murder in June.
Schmidt, a 22-year-old Penn State student, was fatally shot while returning from an NBA Finals watch party. Surveillance footage captured Schmidt’s last moments as he requested his stolen phone before the shooting occurred.
Actions Taken by Authorities
Following Schmidt’s murder, authorities sought two 16-year-old suspects. Azzubair Outen-Fleming, 16, was arrested in Colorado Springs, while Kaiseem Smith later surrendered to police. Both teenagers are facing murder charges.
The investigation continues as law enforcement seeks Khadfi Fleming, probing his potential involvement in these criminal activities.
