A man died after being pushed from a moving train in Chicago last week. A 15-year-old girl faces a murder charge related to his death.
Kyle Bickham, aged 29, was identified by his family as the victim. The incident occurred on September 7 when Bickham was pushed from a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train.
Details of the Incident
Police reported that three suspects pushed Bickham from a moving Red Line train. This occurred around 2:40 p.m. on a Monday, according to ABC7 Chicago. He landed on the electrified third rail and was hit by an oncoming train. Sadly, he was declared dead at the scene.
Charges were filed against a 15-year-old girl, accusing her of first-degree murder. Chicago Police Department announced these charges in a news release on Saturday. Additional charges include mob action and felony assault of a transit employee. The investigation continues, with police yet to identify the other suspects.
Family’s Appeal and Background
Bickham’s family urges anyone with information to speak up.
Bickham was returning home after an overnight shift at an Amazon facility in Cicero. His mother, Latanya Bickham, shared with ABC7 that her son was committed to working hard for his future.
“He was just trying to make an honest day’s living, and this is what happened,” she said.
A GoFundMe page was created by Bickham’s brother, Chris Bickham Jr., to support funeral expenses. Chris wrote about Kyle’s positive impact on others and their desire for a fitting tribute to him.
“Kyle was a son, brother, uncle, family member, and friend who was loved by so many,” Chris reflected. “He was a light, goofy, kind, caring, and always able to bring laughter to those around him. His passing was sudden, and our family is asking for help giving Kyle the homegoing he deserves and sending him home to the Lord.”
Chris emphasized that “Kyle was loved. Kyle mattered. His light will never be forgotten.”
