He questioned if he would allow his family to be held in such environments, concluding that the conditions were unacceptable.

Talarico’s previous comments have prompted scrutiny regarding his position on border policy, especially as he aims to take a Senate seat held by Republicans in Texas. Critics point out his prior progressive stances, such as his call to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and criticism of past immigration policies under President Barack Obama, whom he labeled the “deporter-in-chief.”

“There is a very concerning pattern with James Talarico siding with pedophiles, criminal illegal aliens and cartels while slandering the brave men and women of law enforcement who keep Texans safe,” said Zach Kraft, an RNC spokesperson.
