James Talarico, a Texas Senate candidate, expressed strong opposition to a new THC product ban. He criticized the policy, using President Donald Trump’s words to emphasize his stance. As the ban goes into effect in Texas, polls indicate a tightening race against Attorney General Ken Paxton, who won the Republican primary against John Cornyn.

Talarico likened the ban to the era of prohibition, arguing it would not prevent Texans from using THC products. He warned it could benefit drug cartels by pushing consumers to the black market instead of local businesses. “Yes, we should keep these products out of the hands of minors. Yes, we should end deceptive marketing practices. Yes, we should keep smoke shops away from schools. But this draconian ban doesn’t do any of that,” Talarico stated.
