Tom Brady is a renowned NFL quarterback who spent two decades with the New England Patriots before moving to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2020. Born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California, Brady’s journey in football is remarkable. Raised by Galynn and Tom Brady Sr., he demonstrated exceptional skills in both baseball and football at Junipero Serra High School.
In 1995, Brady was drafted by the Montreal Expos as part of the MLB but chose another path. He attended the University of Michigan to pursue football. At Michigan, he played in his junior year and was later selected as a sixth-round pick by the Patriots in the 2000 NFL draft.
Brady began his rookie season in 2000 behind quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe, John Friesz, and Michael Bishop. By 2001, Brady advanced to the second-string position. During a game against the New York Jets in September 2001, Bledsoe suffered an injury, and Brady seized the opportunity, stepping in as the Patriots’ starting quarterback. Brady led the Patriots to victory in the Super Bowl against the St. Louis Rams in 2002.
Brady’s Super Bowl victories include wins in 2004 against the Carolina Panthers and in 2005. He later added championships in 2015, 2017, 2019, and led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021. Brady holds the record for the most Super Bowl wins by any NFL player, with seven victories and ten appearances.
In 2015, controversy struck when Brady was suspended for four games in the following season for allegedly deflating footballs in the AFC Championship game against the Colts. The suspension took effect in 2016, causing Brady to miss the season’s first four games.
Brady’s decision to leave his longstanding association with the Patriots in March 2020 was unexpected. He pursued new challenges with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quickly found success, securing a Super Bowl title in his first season with the team.
Beyond football, Brady launched his brand, TB12, in 2013. In May 2022, he was announced to join Fox Sports as a lead analyst after his playing career.
Brady’s personal life gained media attention through his marriage to model Gisele Bündchen, which lasted 13 years until their announcement of divorce in October 2022. They have two children, Benjamin Rein and Vivian Lake. Brady also shares a son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
