The View Seeks News Program Status Amid FCC Inquiry

1 hour ago 0

The Walt Disney Company has taken steps to establish its daytime talk show, “The View,” as a legitimate news program. In a recent filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Disney argued for this designation. This move aims to exempt the show from the FCC’s equal airtime rules that apply to political candidates on broadcast television.

The FCC Chairman has been investigating the program since February. The request to categorize “The View” as a news program aligns with efforts to navigate regulatory stipulations. Gaining this status would provide the show with more flexibility in its coverage of political figures and events.

Vice President JD Vance appeared on “The View” on June 16, indicating the show’s ongoing engagement with political dialogue. This filing represents a strategic decision by Disney to adapt to regulatory requirements while maintaining the show’s format and content choices.
