On Monday night, three teenagers were injured in a shooting near 57th Street Beach in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. The incident occurred during a large gathering of young individuals.
According to Chicago police, an 18-year-old man and two 19-year-old men were outside on the 1600 block of East 55th Street around 10 p.m. when shots were fired. They experienced injuries as a result.
The 18-year-old sustained a hand injury and was transported to UChicago Medicine. He is reported to be in good condition. A 19-year-old victim was shot in the leg and also taken to UChicago Medicine, where his condition is listed as stable. A third victim with a gunshot wound to the right hip reached the hospital independently and is also in good condition.
No arrests have been made, and detectives continue to investigate the incident. Police did not confirm any organized ‘teen takeover’ at the beach, classifying the event as a large gathering.
