The summer season heralds an increase in tick activity, posing a growing concern across the United States. Traditionally, some regions have consistently dealt with these pests. However, ticks are now spreading into new areas, escalating the threat they pose. William Brangham engaged in a conversation with Holly Gaff, a mathematical ecologist specializing in tick studies at Old Dominion University, to explore this issue.
