Tim Ream Aims High for World Cup with U.S. Team

4 weeks ago 0

Tim Ream, captain of the U.S. men’s national soccer team, has set bold goals for the World Cup and is open about it. At 38, Ream believes in striving for victory.

“The mindset is: let’s win the World Cup,” Ream shared in a recent interview. “Every team wants to win, and we should embrace that.”

The U.S. team reached the Round of 16 in the 2022 World Cup despite having little experience. Ream emphasized the importance of building on that foundation. From day one of training, the team’s focus has been on winning.

Ream’s selection process for the World Cup differed from 2022. Previously, he received a last-minute call. This time, the anticipation felt lengthy.

“This time it was a relief,” Ream commented. “When I was named, I called my wife. I choked up a bit. It felt like everything was worth it,” he recalled.

Although playing the World Cup at home adds significance, Ream feels the expectations remain consistent. “The expectations and pressure are part of the World Cup environment,” he explained.

Having enthusiastic U.S. supporters in full stadiums excites Ream, as it amplifies the experience. “Feeling that energy is invaluable,” he added.

Ream, 38, hasn’t decided if this will be his last World Cup. Recognizing his age, he is focused on the present.

“I’m not thinking about what comes next. I know my age, but I’ve done a lot to be here,” Ream noted.

Partnership with Goodnites

Ream also addressed his experience with bedwetting until age 11. He partnered with Goodnites, an underwear brand, to combat the stigma around bedwetting for children.

“As someone who’s been through this,” Ream said, “I don’t feel ashamed. It doesn’t define who I am. It’s part of childhood.”

As a father, Ream shares Goodnites with his children. “It’s about normalizing the experience,” he explained. “We get a good night’s sleep, and they wake up feeling good.”

Goodnites helps protect confidence and reassure families that bedwetting is common.
