After cheering for the New York Knicks during the playoffs, Timothee Chalamet returns to work.
Recent news reveals Chalamet, an Oscar nominee, will join Selena Gomez in the animated movie “Not Alone.” This film, set for release in 2027, is a project of Universal Studios and features Chalamet as Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic living a solitary life.
Gomez will portray Fran, a talented astro-botanist creating the world’s first plant-powered rocket, as stated by Deadline. The announcement occurred at the Annecy Film Festival in France.
“When Joe and Fran come together to prepare for the first launch of the innovative rocket, sparks fly, but romance is not their forte,” reads the synopsis. “Life grows complex when three tiny, unruly, and adorable aliens—Dunk, Welly, and Shirm—seek refuge in Joe’s home. These aliens flee from Zandro, an inept law officer, and believe Fran’s rocket can help them return home safely.”
Eric Guillon, known for co-directing “Despicable Me 3,” will direct the film.
The pairing of Chalamet and Gomez has surprised fans, creating buzz. One fan commented, “An unexpected pairing we never anticipated.” Another remarked, “Illumination working with these two is quite the unexpected mix.”
Social media users expressed excitement, “This plot sounds chaotic and cute; I’m seated!” Yet another added, “I love seeing Selena act in anything, but I wonder how Kylie Jenner feels about it.” This comment refers to the 2024 Golden Globes rumor where Gomez allegedly wanted a picture with Chalamet, which Kylie reportedly blocked.
Chalamet addressed these rumors in a TMZ interview. When asked if he was on good terms with Gomez, he replied affirmatively. His response to questions about his girlfriend’s alleged conflict with Gomez was, “No… They’re good.”
Whether Gomez wished for a photo with Chalamet remains debatable, but the upcoming movie ensures they will share plenty of screen time.
