20 hours ago 0

A total solar eclipse is set to occur on Wednesday, captivating viewers in parts of Europe and Asia. The path of totality will pass through Greenland, Iceland, and parts of Spain, offering a rare astronomical event for residents and visitors in these regions.

This marks the first global total solar eclipse since the renowned Great American Eclipse on April 8, 2024. Such events allow for a stunning view of the sun blocked entirely by the moon, a spectacle that attracts both seasoned astronomers and casual observers alike.

In the farming village of San Agustin del Pozo, Spain, retired shepherd and self-taught astronomer Joaquin Tapioles is among those preparing to witness this celestial phenomenon. He was seen disassembling one of his telescopes in anticipation of the event. The photograph was taken on July 22 by Violeta Santos Moura for Reuters.
