Travis Kelce delivered an impressive performance during the Kansas City Chiefs’ overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night. Kelce made nine catches on 11 targets, totaling 101 yards and scoring a touchdown. This marked his first regular-season game exceeding 100 yards since November 4, 2024, against the Houston Texans. He had previously gained 117 yards against the Texans in the playoffs on January 18, 2025.
The game, played on September 20, 2026, saw Kelce, at age 36, acknowledging his reduced speed compared to his younger days. However, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid noted Kelce had extra motivation likely due to his marriage.
“Trav worked his tail off,” Reid commented. “That’s the bottom line, and I think he mentioned the amount of work he’s put in. He appreciates his teammates, which adds a challenge to ensure he’s competing effectively alongside them.”
Reid also addressed speculation about Kelce’s fitness following his wedding. “With Taylor (Swift) performing lengthy shows, I’m sure she encourages him to work hard as well,” he mentioned. During the game, Taylor Swift celebrated her husband’s performance, flashing her wedding ring and cheering after Kelce scored.
Reid highlighted Kelce’s offseason focus on maintaining his physical strength and explosiveness. “He’s been dedicated to enhancing his body strength and speed, keeping his explosiveness intact,” Reid explained.
The Chiefs secured a 33-30 victory, improving their season record to 2-0.
