Trespasser Attempts Entry at Kamala Harris’ Malibu Residence

3 weeks ago 0

An individual attempted to enter the Malibu residence of former Vice President Kamala Harris on a Friday evening. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and a spokesperson for Harris confirmed this incident. Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were not present at the time.

Eduardo Negrón, a representative for Harris, mentioned that the couple had vacated the property during the incident. He did not provide details about their location. Negrón stated, “Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home.” He expressed appreciation for the swift response from security and law enforcement.

The on-site security team reported the intrusion to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which oversees the Malibu region. According to Lt. Jason Duron, a commander at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station, the security detail made contact when a woman approached Harris’ front door. Deputies arrived at approximately 10:30 p.m. The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, agreed to depart without incident and was not apprehended. “We are stepping up patrols of the property to be safe,” stated Lt. Duron.

The security measures surrounding Harris have been under examination. Though former vice presidents generally receive six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office, former President Joe Biden extended this duration. This extension was revoked by President Donald Trump in August 2025 after he won the 2024 election against Harris. This change compelled Los Angeles and California law enforcement agencies to adjust their protective efforts for Harris. The Los Angeles Police Department ceased its involvement, facing criticism that reallocating manpower to safeguard the former vice president impeded its crime-fighting capabilities. Current protection details by the California Highway Patrol or if private security personnel contacted the Sheriff’s Department remain uncertain.
