On Sunday, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence guided his team to a challenging 22-17 triumph over the Cincinnati Bengals, quarterbacked by Joe Burrow, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Prior to this victory, Lawrence had never defeated the Bengals since his career began in 2021. This win means he has now bested all other AFC teams during his time in the league.
In Sunday’s away game, Lawrence completed 18 out of 23 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown. In contrast, Burrow threw for an astounding 428 yards and a touchdown, but was hampered by two interceptions. Adding to Burrow’s challenges was the loss of key offensive player Ja’Marr Chase, who sustained a concussion in the first half.

Lawrence is enjoying an impressive start this season, confounding critics who doubted his ability to remain Jacksonville’s quarterback a few seasons ago. Last season, he led the Jaguars to their best record as a starter with a 13-4 finish, securing the AFC South and a playoff position.
If Lawrence can lead his team to the NFL Playoffs again, it will be his third playoff appearance and further dispel earlier skepticism about his fit as Jacksonville’s quarterback. Currently, at 3-1, they top the division and are poised for another successful season. Lawrence has accumulated 616 passing yards and is tied for fifth in the NFL with seven touchdowns. His QBR of 73.3 also ranks fifth in the league.
So far, the former top pick from Clemson is having his best season with a career-high QBR and a 107.8 passer rating. Following last year’s achievements, the Jaguars appear to be a strong contender in the AFC, though there are many more games ahead.
Jacksonville will next face the NFC’s Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) on Sunday, October 11, followed by a game against the Houston Texans (0-4) on Sunday, October 18. These upcoming matches are seen as very winnable for the Jaguars.
