President Trump will deliver the keynote address at the Republican National Committee Midterm Convention in Dallas. This gathering of party leaders and delegates is seen as a strategy to energize the party ahead of the upcoming November elections.
Vice President JD Vance, considered a potential successor to Trump, will headline the second night’s events. Several individuals reportedly eyeing the 2028 presidential race are also scheduled to speak. The convention’s speaker lineup includes high-ranking Cabinet members, prominent Republican congressional leaders, and candidates from key political contests.
Some confirmed speakers include former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is now an external political adviser to Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Attorney General Todd Blanche, and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Notably absent from the speaker list are Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, both of whom are speculated to be considering future presidential bids.
House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming, the second-ranking GOP senator, will make appearances. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, despite recent tensions with Trump, will attend fundraisers in Dallas but is not slated to speak. Texas figures like Senator Ted Cruz, who doubts Vance will be the sole contender in the 2028 presidential race, and Attorney General Ken Paxton, struggling in his Senate campaign, are also invited. Trump recently boosted Paxton’s campaign with a $10 million donation from his MAGA Inc. super PAC.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott is also set to speak, leading slightly in polls against his Democratic opponent Gina Hinojosa. The convention serves as a platform for Republicans to consolidate their strategies as they approach critical election cycles.
