Trump to Present FIFA World Cup Trophy, Attend Matches and Events

President Donald Trump will present the FIFA World Cup trophy to the winner of the match between Spain and Argentina on Sunday. A White House official confirmed this news to Fox News. Alongside Trump, FIFA President Gianni Infantino will deliver the trophy on the field at New York/New Jersey Stadium.

President Trump was previously seen on stage during the FIFA Club World Cup trophy presentation after Chelsea triumphed over Paris Saint-Germain last summer. This event took place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, commented on the president’s attendance at the FIFA World Cup, calling it “a fitting conclusion to a tournament that showcased America’s ability to host the world on the grandest stage.” Infantino announced last month on “Fox & Friends” that Trump would also attend the contest.

Earlier in the tournament, Trump reached out to Infantino regarding a red card given to Folarin Balogun, which resulted in a suspension for Team USA’s Round of 16 match. Following Trump’s involvement, Balogun was later declared eligible to play.

Despite not attending a World Cup match, Secretary of State Marco Rubio watched the U.S. Men’s National Team triumph over Paraguay, with a 4-1 win on June 12.

Another notable event involved President Trump receiving the first FIFA Peace Prize at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. This occurred during the World Cup final draw in December.

Recently, Trump attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, and the White House hosted UFC Freedom 250 the previous month. An upcoming IndyCar race is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C.
