A shooting in Gaston County, North Carolina, claimed the lives of two people and left two others in critical condition on Thursday morning. Officers responded to a 911 call about gunfire, according to authorities.
At 8:45 a.m., Gaston County Police Department officers arrived at a home and discovered four individuals with gunshot wounds. Two victims were declared dead at the scene, while the other two were transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred inside a residence on Forbes Road, where police administered lifesaving measures while waiting for emergency services.
A person of interest has been identified, although authorities haven’t disclosed further details. Investigators suggest that the suspect and victims were acquainted and emphasize that the shooting was an isolated event.
Police confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the Gaston County community. The suburb, located approximately 30 minutes west of Charlotte, remains under investigation as authorities seek more details.
