New York Knicks fans have a strong memory of Tyrese Haliburton. He played a key role in sending the Knicks home in both the 2024 playoffs and the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals. Unfortunately, Haliburton suffered a torn Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, making him miss the following season. During this time, the Knicks claimed their first title in more than five decades by defeating the Spurs.
Haliburton discussed his reaction to the Knicks’ victory on Boardroom Talks with host Speedy Morman. Initially, he couldn’t bear to watch. He stated, “When the Knicks won, I thought to myself, ‘I gotta turn this [expletive] off.’ I can’t watch it.” However, even though the atmosphere felt different, he eventually decided to keep watching the Finals celebration.
“You know what, leave it on. Let me watch it. And to see Jalen celebrate with Ali, his wife… me and my wife are friends with them. I was like, that’s awesome to see,” Haliburton shared.
He also enjoyed watching Josh Hart with his twins and Karl-Anthony Towns with Jordyn Woods. Despite the friendly moments, Haliburton did not shy away from acknowledging the rivalry.
Are they our rivals? Yes… We hate each other when we’re playing, but after that, it’s love,” Haliburton stated.
He expressed mixed emotions: anger, happiness, and sadness for missing the chance to compete. Haliburton concluded by stating he is eager to return to the court. Indiana expects him to be back in form for the season’s start.
The Knicks will begin their title defense on October 20 against the 76ers, reigniting the intense rivalry.
